In
1994, Spectrum founders Gamil Haddad and Nigel Watts capitalised on their extensive
experience in manufacture, sales, distribution and management to offer semiconductor
manufacturers a refreshingly different class of third party representation service.
Two years later the, by then proven, Spectrum model was exported to France and
Advance REP was established under the direction of Alain Le Corre.
Careful plans for expansion were realised in the New Year of 2000 with InFocus
in the UK, Spectrum Design in France and Spectrum Benelux.
Two further years of planning concluded in the establishment of three further
operations in 2002: Spectrum Nordic, Spectrum Germany (now called Spectrum Central
Europe) and Spectrum Electronica in Spain and Portugal. Spectrum Italia (now
called Spectrum Cosystem) and Spectrum Israel were launched in January 2003 while
Delta Silicon, a second operation in the Benelux region was established during
the second half of the year. A third operation in France, Silicon Design, opened
in mid 2005.
In
May 2006 the Group announced that it had attracted significant inward investment
from, among others, distribution pioneer Dick Skipworth and Steve Poole, ex-
VP Europe for Intel.
Following the successful completion of its program of corporate consolidation into a single pan-European entity in 2006, the Spectrum Group is accelerating its ambitious road-map for geographic and value-added service expansion. In Q1 '07 the Group launched Silicon Design www.silicondesigneu.com: Differing from Spectrum's I.S.M.O. business model only in that it also holds stock and services customers via a B2B website, Silicon Design is focused on promoting the products and IP of emerging manufactures to the many customers throughout Europe who are developing next-generation consumer applications.
